Will China buy a used couch in Omaha?

I know this is going to be a very unimpressive statement, but the Internet is huge. What I mean is that it is even bigger than most people can imagine and it’s growing at a total rate of about 100% per year.. Doubling every 12 months. Most of that new growth is in private networks, not public, but it’s still impressive to think of the bandwidth required to keep up with that type of expansion. Moore’s law keeps proving itself and processors get faster and cheaper. New people figure out how to stuff more information down longer, thinner wires and it all keeps on growing.

The problem is when you just want to tap into your local internet and be discovered, you sometimes end up in Hong Kong or Melbourne instead of Beatrice or Omaha. Why? Well... its because of the mass of the item at hand.

Some interesting new facts for 2010:
OVER 1 in 4 people in the world are on the internet.
Internet access via mobile phones will soon be twice as popular as wired internet connections.
According to there are nearly 1.8 BILLION people using the Internet right now.
Estimates put total unique webistes at over 50 million… but we think that is quite low. There are a lot of people who have a page for their cat on there..

These are all very interesting numbers, especially if you plan on getting found on the internet. In other words, it gets tougher and tougher to be found out there, because there are just more things for your website or information to get hidden behind or miscategorized into. One way you can hedge your bets is to not worry about the entire internet at first, but concentrate on the internet where you live. Make sure to have your web content found locally first, like posting on your local page. It doesn’t get more local than that.

Can sell free usa help you get found locally? Sure. As you and others post on your local site populate the page with ads, it will start popping up and growing and growing. It takes time, we know that, but in order for you and me to quit being found in China and start getting found in your home town, you and I need to start getting people to put some content on your local page. Just a thought, but we've already built the site. It's now YOURS to use and grow, for free.

Is the Internet HUGE? Yes. Can you still get found on it, Yes. Just remember to not spend your time advertising in China, if you want to sell a couch in Omaha.

Thanks for the ads
